Tom was born in York, Pennsylvania. His family moved to East Petersburg in the late 60’s.Tom was involved in an Explorer Post that was based at Park City in the then studios of Channel 15 and WHEX radio. He concentrated on music at Hempfield High School and actually started college at Millersville as a music major. Music theory class and Tom didn’t get along, so it was communications. He cut his teeth at the Millersville college radio station WMSR. That’s where he met Terry Kile. Terry worked at WGAL radio. Eventually, there was a job opening for a part-time jock. One Sunday night, when Tom was in the studio with Terry, NBC news came on, Terry took off the headsets, handed them to Tom and said “The boss is listening, the next hour is your audition” He got the job and since 1977 his voice has been on the radio. Tom has worked news and every personality air-shift over the years, has made personal appearances, done hundreds of remotes and wedding receptions. Tom also spent 12 years playing and singing in a rock cover band. You also hear Tom as a voice-over talent for WGAL-TV, he’s been doing that since the early 90’s. Tom and his wife Barbara have been married since 1979 and have four children. They have three sons and a daughter. The children live all over the country. One son just retired from the Air Force, their youngest son is still in the Air Force, and another son is a teacher. Their daughter is also a teacher. Tom and Barbara have eleven grand-children as well. Tom is production director and does digital services content for the stations. Tom is also the host of “By The Way” a talk show heard every Sunday morning at 7:30. By The Way deals with issues of interest to Lancaster, York and Harrisburg. When he’s not working in radio or TV, Tom runs music for the Lancaster Barnstormers and umpires high school baseball.
